The Academy’s maiden venture the YENEPOYA DENTAL COLLEGE was established in the year 1992 and produced its first batch of BDS graduates coincidentally during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of India’s Independence on the 15th of August 1997.

The College presently has an intake of 100 students per year, most of whom belong to minority communities. However, admissions are not restricted to any particular minority and care is taken to ensure a secular status. A good number of female students have also been absorbed, with a view to encourage higher education of girls. Presently girls constitute 60% of the total student strength. In a short span of twelve years, the Institution has exhibited commendable growth in all spheres, with the procurement of modern facilities, state-of–the–art equipment, a committed and dedicated teaching faculty and highly disciplined students. Subsequently the MDS degree course commenced in the year1996. The institute provides ultramodern equipment and clinical facilities for the training of Post Graduate students as well as for research purposes. The PG section of the library holds an exhaustive number of journals and text books, while also being updated with computers and CD-ROM facilities and internet access to medicine. On the academic front YDC has made substantial progress with the acquirement of the approval of the Dental Council of India and the Government of India for its Post Graduate Course in 8 specialites of Dentistry. The Management awards gold medals every year in recognition of outstanding achievements and to bolster academic performance by the students Following are the courses offered by the Yenepoya Dental College: UNDERGRADUATE COURSE B.D.S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) Course runs for a period of four years, followed by one year internship. The examination and award of degree are regulated by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Pre-Clinical Departments are housed in the Academic block with all the required amenities. State of the art dental clinics covering all dental specialities with more than 300 dental chairs are attached to the college. POSTGRADUATE COURSE MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) courses runs for a period of 3 years. The examination and award of degree are regulated by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
