PHILOSOPHY We the staff of Yenepoya Insttitute of Nursing Sciences, believe that the basic course in nursing is a formal education preparation which should be based on sound educational principles. We believe in providing nursing education based on scientific principles and built upon the sound educational theory and practice, in order to prepare professionally qualified nurse, who will be able to function as a team member, in all healthcare agencies in the role of a practising Nurse. We believe that Nursing is a practising profession interdependent on allied professions and occupations for promoting, restoring and maintaining health, and in preventing diseases. We believe that Nursing is a profession which is influenced by advances in science and technology. OBJECTIVES The Nurses after having completed the 3 years of GNM course will be: 1. Competetent to function as a member of the health team. 2. Competent to provide the comprehensive nursing care to the patients both in hospital and community. 3. Able to work with other members of health team in the hospital and in the community, in the promotion of health, prevention of diseases, restoration of health and rehabilition. 4. Able to appreciate the necessity of belonging to professional organization and self development. COURSES OFFERED Three years of General Nursing & Midwifery offering a Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery from the KSDNEB. Duration of the course is three years. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION - Male / Female candidates are eligible to apply. - Should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st July / August of the year of admission to the programme. The upper age limit for admission is 25 years. - Should have passed the pre-university examintaion (10+2) in recognized university, preference will be given to the students with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects of studies. - Should have passed the qualifying examination in not more than two attempts. - Should be physically fit - supported by a physical fitness certificate. - The candidate should ensure whether he / she possess the required qualification for admission. - The candidate is expected to ascertain his / her eligibility from KNC, Bangalore before joining the course, especially if he / she has obtained the qualifying examination certificate from outside India. | |
